Okay, I'm at my wits end here. I just upgraded my Wacom Intuos 4 to an Intuos 5. Now my pressure sensitivity in Paint Tool SAI won't work for anything. I have scoured the internet looking for an answer and any that are given don't work. If there is anyone out there who may be reading this and has a suggestion I am open to any ideas.

I love doing my paintings but I will always love doing ink work. As long as I cannot use SAI my inks are at a dead end. It takes me too long to do in PS and I don't have a steady enough hand for the cleanliness of a line that I prefer doing. The SAI stabilizer helped that tremendously. Which also wont work.

I don't do any inking, but I have used manga studios, and I agree with staminaboy,it is a inker/penciler friendly program! I wish u the best bro!

Thanks, I really need to update my journal. Been using Manga Studio 5 for about a month now. And absolutely LOVE it.

I'm still using an Intuos 4 and have never used SAI but what you're describing sounds like it could be a driver issue. I would recommend uninstalling your tablet completely and trying a fresh install. Have you tried the tablet on any other programs?

Yep, and the pressure sensitivity works flawlessly in every other program. I might give that a shot though with the drivers. Thanks

If that doesn't work you may also have user preferences that are messing with the new program version, try going to Start >All Programs>Wacom Tablet> Wacom Preference File Utility and remove all user preferences.

Since reading your original post I did a search and found quite a few people describing the same problem with SAI and their Intuos, both 4 and 5. Drivers and user preferences seem to be the most common fixes.

Personally I say try out Manga Studio 5, I just got it this week and haven just started fiddling with it, but it's got all the inking benefits of SAI and more :)

Let me know if you're successful!

Really? I have Manga Studio also but have really taken the time to learn it. I may just look into that instead of messing with setting and drivers and all that crap anymore. Have always wanted to learn it anyway so this gives me the push I needed.

Yeah, I had Manga Studio 4 previously and found it clunky to use because of the not so intuitive/user friendly interface, but MS5 seems to have fixed that. The inking tools are pretty nuts, line smoothing and correction, smart erase features that will take out sections of lines when you draw past your target, thickness tools that allow you to increase/decrease lines that you've already put down, plus when you ink on a vector layer it automatically puts vector points on your line which can be pulled and pinched to get it just right.

I sound like a commercial, but I've really been impressed with it's power and versatility this past week.

Annnnnndddd.... I'm already loving it. LOL. Gonna take a bit to figure out everything it can do. Much more expansive than SAI. Gotta check out this smart erase thing you mentioned next. Thanks so much for this recommendation again.

Damnit, I still have 4, but I am currently have another tab open to the Manga Studio website, lol. Thanks for all that info about it though. Sounds just like SAI only better. Maybe you have a future as a salesman cause I think I might buy this. Too bad you can't get a commission for the sale.
